GLU is a community for queer women and nonbinary humans seeking connection, belonging, and possibility.

We create intentional experiences designed to make meeting people feel comfortable showing up alone, but also help finding your people feel a little less left to chance.

Whether you’re looking for friendship, romance, collaboration, mentorship, adventure, or simply a room full of people who understand your lived experience, there’s a place for you here.

Those quietly running the city from the inside who are accomplished and exceptional at the many things they do. The Surgeon. The Attorney. The Director. The Engineer. The Consultant. The Artist.

We just exist in separate circles, in spaces that are the closest thing to what we wish existed but never exactly that. And rarely together. GLU is changing that. Pour Decisions was the intro. Good Company kept it going. Hotter Than July is upon us.

The girls like us have spent enough time adapting ourselves to rooms that weren’t built with us in mind. So we’re trying something different. Every event, survey, conversation, DM, suggestion, compliment, and critique helps shape what comes next. If something can be improved, we’ll improve it. If something isn’t serving our people, we’ll rethink it.

Safety matters. Inclusion matters. Accessibility matters. Feeling welcomed when you walk through the door matters. Feeling like you belong once you’re inside matters even more.

We’re not interested in hosting events just be have a reason to be outside. We’re building the kinds of spaces we wished existed for us.

The goal has never been to throw the biggest event. The goal is to curate the right ones.

GLU was never meant to be just an event series. We’re building an ecosystem designed to help queer women find friendship, opportunity, mentorship, collaboration, and community long beyond the end of the night.

Through curated experiences, technology and intentional programming, we’re creating more ways for our community to find each other and do life together.

Kiana brings PR, storytelling, and an instinct for the room. Jaz brings tech, data strategy, and the infrastructure to make community scale. It takes that exact combined skillset to build something like this.

Two operators who understand both the rooms they walk into and the systems behind why those rooms keep looking the same.

They built GLU because they were tired of being the only ones like them in every room they walked into. Between them: nearly two decades of Detroit, careers spent in spaces that weren't built for them, and one very clear decision to finally build it themselves.
